These Jewish refugees, in many cases, were not allowed to sell their property, businesses or goods before departing. Many Muslim governments profitted from their departure, obtaining in many cases large swaths of land and big businesses. Many Jewish refugees, previously rich, left everything behind, for fear that if they remained, they and their families were killed. Each country from which they came had events that led the Jews to believe they were in danger, leading to the mass exodus.

The Tel Aviv school system has 25 new pupils this year - child refugees from Darfur. The children, who escaped unimaginable horrors in their native land and suffered hardships in Egypt, began the school year Sunday with the hope of a better life. To date, some 300 Muslim refugees have traveled from Sudan to Israel by foot, crossing over through Egypt. While their long-term asylum status in Israel is not clear, the government has provided shelter for many of the refugees' families at a center in the Galilee and has pledged that none of the refugees in Israel will be forced to face genocide back in the Sudan again.

The U.N.'s universal definition of a refugee :
"Any person who has been forced to abandon his permanent home in his natural habitat since time immemorial will be considered a refugee".
In only one instance has this definition been expanded upon, through the pressure of the Arab League. The broadened definition is as follows: "Every Arab who left Palestine-the Land of Israel in 1948, who had lived there for two years , will also be considered a refugee he and his descendants ". Why did the Arab countries bother to expand this definition?
The encounter between students and adults that came from diverse cultural frames , brings up central issues about the trilateral exchanges.
We found out that there are visible and hidden reasons which motivates the different sides to take part on such an encounter-exchange.
