07/08/2008 Dear friends, I'm very sad to announce that David Meyer, the old fellow from Frankfurt Oder that escorted our project for many years as a time witness, passed away earlier this morning after 3 weeks of agony. Today afternoon his funeral will take place in Zichron Yaakov cemetery. If any student/teacher, who had the chance to talk to him, wants to write some words in his memory or his impression about meeting David, it’ll be a honor for me to read it in the funeral. A long hug to all of you, Mara List, Project Coordinator, Israel ..................................... 07/08/2008 David was a good friend for me and for the students from his birth town Frankfurt (oder). I met him for the first time in January 2007 and now in July 2008. David is in my memories a wonderful man. He was friendly, humorous, humanity, intelligent with common sense, peaceful. For me as an German teacher of history and my students he had to leave its mark. I will to have pleasant memories of David, a young boy from Frankfurt, a child from La Guette, a teacher in France and Israel, a good husband and father. I think of his loving wife and to you Mara. Peter Clemens, Building Bridges Educator and History teacher, Frankfurt Oder, Germany. ............................................... 13/08/2008 Yesterday I read your mail about your old german friend from Frankfurt/Oder. I remember very well to visit him and his bright wife, to listen to his story for example about Baron Rothschild and to see the puppets in the garden house. He invited and talked to us without aggressions and bitterness. Please say very warm and honest regards to him and his wife. Reiner Limbach, Historu teacher, Karol Von Frisch Gymnasium, Tubingen, Germany ................................................. 21/08/2008 I read about David passing away. I am sharing his family`s grief who have lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather. It was a wonderful chance for us to meet him and listen to the story of his life. I enjoyed his company several times and each time it was exciting and interesting. He opened his house for us very warmly and shared all his memories with us even though it must have been hard for him. I am very grateful for having had the chance to meet him an listen to him.
